Google Pay has become widespread in India in the online payments segment. Google Pay users can now transfer / pay money to their friends and merchants with a single click. However, until now Google Pay only supported debit cards, and the company eventually added credit card support for Google Pay.

Google Pay Now Supports Credit Cards In India

This means that you can now pay your bills using Google Pay via supported credit cards, just like UPI payment, without using the physical card. Again, this will be limited by the limited credit given to you by your bank account.

Currently available for some Android users

For now, Google Pay credit card support is only available for certain Android smartphone users in India, and the same functionality is expected to roll out for iOS users in the coming days. Some users are also reporting that even though they have received the update, they are still unable to add their credit card to their Google Pay account.

How do I add a credit card to Google Pay?

Make sure you have the latest version of Google Pay installed on your smartphone. Click on your profile picture> payment methods> and click on the add bank account option. Note that you must use the same phone number as your Google Pay account to add a credit card in order to link it to your account.

Credit cards compatible with Google Pay

Almost all major bank credit cards are currently supported on Google Pay, as they were issued by Visa or Master. Google Pay currently supports Axis Bank, SBI, Kotak Bank, HDFC, IndusInd, Federal Bank, RBL, and HSBC credit cards.

This means that you can now make all payments throughout the month and then pay a single bill to your credit card provider. At this time, there is no information on whether Google charges additional fees for using a credit card with Google Pay. This is certainly a welcome move from Google, which is expected to help increase Google Pay’s mobile payments market share in India.
